CMC Club Gear

Club equipment can be borrowed by CMC members only. We want our equipment to remain available for all members at all times, so please adhere to the care information at the bottom of this page.

Borrowing Equipment

Below is a list of club-owned gear and guidebooks that are available for personal use by all club members. The gear is free to borrow for both club meets and personal trips. Speak to a committee member if you would like to borrow kit. We ask that members take full care in avoiding equipment becoming damaged or lost whilst it is signed out to their name.

Care & Checking Equipment

Be sure to check for any visible abnormalities in all kit, including: Broken gates, abnormal closing of carabiners, kinks, furry slings/rope, loose hinges, cams that don’t operate smoothly.

Please reach out to a member of the committee if you are unsure at any point on specific care instructions for kit.

If and when able to, use mats in rope bags to place ropes on instead of the ground, as this will help keep the rope clean and prolong its lifespan.

Avoid allowing the rope to drag over rough edges and sharp rock. This can not only cause excessive wear and tear to the rope but also results in abrasion damage to certain rock, such as Sandstone (most notably found at Harrison’s Rocks, Kent). Please also consider using rope protectors in situations where terrain is rough.

Please make sure to return kit dry, especially rope.

Further BMC-approved care guidance can be found here.
